Talos Principle: Reawakened Puzzle Guide for Reason’s Retreat – Tips to Master In The Beginning

The newly released The Talos Principle: Reawakened not only enhances the visual experience of the original game with an impressive Unreal Engine 5 upgrade, but it also introduces an exciting expansion titled In the Beginning. This expansion features 18 new puzzles, specifically designed to challenge players even further.Notably, 16 of these puzzles were crafted in collaboration with dedicated members of the gaming community, making the content truly resonate with veterans of the Talos Principle series. As a result, many players are recognizing these puzzles as some of the most challenging in the series. In this guide, we focus on solving the intricacies of the Reason’s Retreat puzzle, which has proven to be particularly perplexing.
As with several other complex puzzles in this new expansion, manipulating lasers—both blocking and un-blocking them—is crucial to finding the solution. This insight serves as a significant hint for players seeking direction. Now, let’s delve into the puzzle mechanics.

Phase One – Obtaining the Third Connector

Upon entering the puzzle area, turn right and you’ll encounter a shield that obstructs your path forward. To initiate solving the puzzle, proceed straight ahead and take a right at the far corner. Your main goal here is to retrieve the third connector—referred to as C3—located behind multiple shields that cannot be deactivated simultaneously. For clarity, the connectors will be labeled as C1, C2, and C3 throughout the guide.

Talos Principle Reawakened
  • First, acquire C1 as you navigate the corner. Move into the puzzle’s center area and activate the fan located in one corner.
Talos Principle Reawakened
  • Ascend to the pressure switch, connecting C1 to the red node adjacent to its location and the red laser generator, which is positioned behind a shield. Place C1 on the pressure switch to maintain the oscillation of a wall panel.

  • Next, descend to the ground and acquire C2, connecting it to the blue laser generator and the blue node positioned above the moving panel.
  • Place C2 in the center area so that the panel will regularly intersect the blue laser path. To achieve this, position C2 close to the wall to obstruct the laser effectively.
  • With the panel oscillating, the shields beside the red node where C1 is located will begin to alternate, allowing you safe passage to retrieve C3, which lies behind both shields.

Phase Two – Intersecting the Lasers

Now that all three connectors are at your disposal, you can proceed to resolve the puzzle. As indicated in this phase, aligning the lasers correctly is crucial to enabling the blue laser to reach the node that will deactivate the shield obstructing access to the tetromino.

Talos Principle Reawakened
  • Begin by bringing C1, C2, and C3 to ground level, positioning them to one side of the puzzle’s center. Connect C1 first to the red laser generator and the red node on the opposite wall from the moving panel.

  • Next, attach C2 to the blue laser generator and the blue node situated above the moving panel, ensuring C2 does not obstruct the red laser pathways.
Talos Principle Reawakened
  • Now, take C3 and navigate it around the center of the puzzle to the path initially obstructed upon entering the area. Connect C3 to C1 and the red laser generator to create an effective triangular formation through the opening.
Talos Principle Reawakened
  • Your setup should now form a triangle with the red lasers while ensuring the blue laser is outside their trajectory.
Talos Principle Reawakened
  • Maintain C2’s connection to the blue node and blue laser generator, but redirect it to the red node, which will deactivate one of the shields obstructing C3’s path.
Talos Principle Reawakened
  • Stand in the trajectory of the blue laser facing the red node; this will enable the red laser to reconnect. Step aside once it’s reestablished.
Talos Principle Reawakened
  • With your adjustments, the red laser will now be obstructing the path of the blue laser.
Talos Principle Reawakened
  • Return to C3, ascend the stairs behind you, and place C3 onto the pressure switch located at the top. The result will be a blue laser reaching the blue node, deactivating the shield that blocks the path to the tetromino.

Finally, approach the tetromino to complete the puzzle successfully!

It’s been exactly one week since the release of Reawakened, and we’ve been reading through all your feedback and taking notes. Today, we’re excited to roll out our first update, which addresses several major issues you’ve reported, along with some cool new additions to the level editor!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for being so active with your feedback. We truly appreciate it!
